Flight Suits: USAF MA-1 Nylon Flight Jacket

The U.S. Air Force issued the MA-1 from the 1950’s to the 1980’s, and it is the most famous and most copied fabric flight jacket of all time. Ours is made by Alpha Industries, one of the original manufacturers. Made to military specification MIL-J-82790J, the outer shell is a milspec nylon flite satin with an orange nylon lining and warm Dacron Fiberfil inner lining. Heavy nylon knit cuffs, collar, and waistband keep the chill out. It has flap pockets on the outside, snap pockets on the inside and a zippered pen-and-pencil pocket on sleeve. And it is completely reversible for emergency use.
