The communications earplug (CEP) protects your
hearing by combining an expanding foam earplug with a miniature
earphone. It allows you to easily understand radio communications
while it helps protect your hearing, even in the high-noise
helicopters.
CEP consists of a wiring harness that is installed
in your helmet, two miniature earphones on a cable that plugs
into the wiring harness, and two foam eartips attached to the
miniature earphones. No external power source is needed.
Flight Suits will install the wiring harness in
your helmet, connecting it to your current earphone wires. We
drill a small hole in the back of the helmet to mount a jack
for your CEP cable.
You use CEP by inserting the foam eartips into
your ears and plugging the CEP cable to the jack in the back
of your helmet.
CEP does not interfere with your helmet's earphones.
If you forget your CEP, you can still use the helmet without
it. Your helmet will still provide the same sound attenuation
as it did before installing CEP.
